The Edelrid OHM is a belay device that has been established for many years in indoor and outdoor climbing. It increases rope friction in the event of a fall, thereby compensating for weight differences between a heavier climber and a lighter belayer. The maximum weight difference between climber and belayer can be up to 40 kg with the OHM. (Manufacturer's information: Link to the Edelrid website )

The Edelrid OHM combines several advantages in one device:

  • Safer requires significantly less hand force to stop a fall.
  • Lowering a heavier climber is significantly easier to control.
  • It is installed in the first hook of the safety chain.
  • In the event of a fall onto the first hook, the device reduces the risk of a potential ground fall.
  • No restrictions on handling during lead climbing (no rope friction when paying out rope)
  • Recommended weight difference (climber > belayer): 10 - 40 kg
