Product description Grayl Ultrapress 0.5 l:
The filter consists of a robust water filter drinking bottle with a capacity of 500 ml and a replaceable water filter (hollow fiber filter) for a total of 150 liters of filtered water.
The water filter produces clean, purified drinking water within 20-30 seconds. With refilling and pressing, we achieve approximately one cycle per minute.
99.9% of all waterborne pathogens (viruses, bacteria and protozoan cysts) are removed.
The purified water can be drunk directly through the screw cap.
Product description MSR Guardian:
Our premium water filter, the MSR Guardian, has several advantages over the Grayl. Fundamentally, the filters do not differ in terms of filtration performance. Both filter out the same contaminants.
The only noticeable difference lies in the handling. The MSR Guardian is very well-designed and features a long intake hose with a self-cleaning pre-filter.
-
Self-cleaning with every stroke: The filter cleans itself automatically, minimizing blockages and reducing maintenance.
-
Resistant to mud, turbidity and ice: Works even in difficult conditions such as muddy water or cold.
The hose allows the filter to draw water from a lake or pond that is not directly at the shore. Water near the shore often contains significantly more suspended particles, which can clog and block the filters.
Furthermore, the Guardian's pump system allows you to quickly fill the included 1-liter water bottle. This can then be easily unscrewed and emptied. This simple handling saves a tremendous amount of time, especially when dealing with larger groups.
What can filters NOT filter out of water?
-
Salts and minerals → not a desalinator, therefore not suitable for seawater
-
Soluble chemicals (e.g., gasoline, solvents, pesticides, fertilizers in high concentrations)
-
Radioactive substances
-
Heavy metals in high concentration (only partial reduction)
-
Oil and fuel contamination
-
Taste or smell of extremely polluted water can only be corrected to a limited extent.
